Book Review: THE PERFECT GIRL by Gilly Macmillan — Crime by the Book

The perfect girl

The perfect woman must be confident Physical attractiveness is only one side of the coin; mental attractiveness via confidence is the other. Her life was going to be perfect, all planned out for her, but then fate stepped in and all that changed in the blink of an eye. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. But again, this is all being overqualified, and making life nothing but difficult! It haunts her, and she is caught in a frustrating position because of it. It was fine, I guess. If it had ended better, it would have easily been five stars.

The perfect girl

A woman of great virtues to pass onto our children. There is some back and forth timeline in the book and nearly every chapter switches back and forth between different character's points of view. The beginning of this book was great. Hats off to the author for creating this interesting scenario and packing so much into such a short timeframe. What is interesting about this article is that the author is describing his insecurities and projecting them into the idea of the perfect woman.

Like first of all why am i not allowed to be sarcastic? The storyline appears simple enough: child prodigy, once in trouble with the law, now making a comeback but suddenly her mother is murdered. At seventeen she has served her time and her mother Maria plans the perfect comeback--a piano recital. This book is also told from the perspectives of each individual throughout the book. Shave off one or two and I think the story would be a little tighter. When something like that happens, disappointment can leave me feeling let down, however, after giving it some th The Perfect Girl by Gilly Macmillan is a 2016 Little, Brown Book Group publication.

With concert with Lucas, her stepbrother this is the first performance of her Second Chance Life. Not a surprise at all. Everyone deserves a second chance, right? Heavy baggage is carried into each scene like a laundry list of imperfections. Lots of people have made it possible to look for their partners to choose from sites. Strong, impressive complex character-driven tale; each is performing with their own motives---- with highly charged topics of domestic abuse and alcoholism. I hate when Im reading a book and Im constantly reminded that Im reading a book because what Im reading is so silly.

The Perfect Girl: A Novel

The perfect girl

I read on waiting for it to get somewhere, quit at 90 percent. The Perfect Girl is a sharp insight into how damaging the bond between a parent and child simply trying to do their best for each other can be. Maria has remarried a man named Chris who also has a seventeen year old son who plays piano. That is the reason I gave this book a 3. Or maybe, it was Chris who only learned of Zoe's past on the night of the concert. A few years back, she was involved in an automobile accident in which three other teens were killed.

The perfect girl

On the first night of her kidnapping, Stan was strung up by her hands, physically attacked by Cameron, and left blindfolded and suspended while the pair below her. So, overall, I enjoyed this book for the most part, although it is not the strongest outing for this author. A mother who pretends the past does not exist. She studied History of Art at Bristol University and the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. The family never has a chance to heal, because Maria is found dead six hours later. I think I gave it a three because the author has potential, I finished the book and I do want to read her earlier book that everyone raves about.

The perfect girl

The structure of this book was brilliant. This novel alternates between the past and the present and is told from alternating viewpoints - in this way, we find out the truth - the story of what happened to Zoe and wha happens to her mother as well. We hear from each person and the events leading up to the concert before and after. Set in Bristol, Zoe Maisey, a musical prodigy—a pianist. So shortly after her release Zoe and Maria moved to Bristol and her mother fell in love and married again. The story has so many unlikely occurrences all going on at the same time. The writing was snappy and concise and flowed very well.

The perfect girl

While this novel did not resonate with me, I think it will be entertaining for many. She is now out and trying to get her life back. Until the night of Zoe and Lucas's piano recital. Perfect the book is not, but it is an absolutely compelling read about Zoe, a teenage musical prodigy and her family. Overall, the ending ruined the whole thing for me. There are a number of critics out here that give the writing style credit and yes, it does move along but I found myself skimming through passages because there was so much unnecessary filler. After her kidnapping, Stan stated that she was tortured and kept locked in a box 23 hours a day until she was given a contract and forced to sign herself into slavery for life in January 1978.

The perfect girl

Should she pursue her dream of being a doctor, lawyer, or politician? She served her time, and now her mother, Maria, is resolved to keep that devastating fact tucked far away from their new beginning, hiding the past even from her new husband and demanding that Zoe do the same. That turns guys off—big time! Full disclosure: I didn't much like either of those, and so it's not all that surprising that this one didn't grip me either. And in come all the other characters whether directly impacting the story or not. I felt an unmistakable sensation of nail biting anticipation that kept me from pausing the story for very long, wanting to return to it every chance I got! My ex husband of 15 emotionally, psychologically, and physically devastating years, finally decided to try and end my life, slitting my throat and leaving me for dead. The Perfect Girl examines a mind under duress and dives into compelling issues surrounding blended families, infidelity, and domestic violence.

The perfect girl

Women make important decisions daily, while also being everything else the world expects of them. There's a lot of crap going on in the background. But I couldn't put it down. Written using multiple points of view offered by Zoe, her aunt Tessa and her solicitor, Sam Locke, this is a heartbreakingly sad novel. On that dramatic Sunday night, they kept casually separating and reuniting in different areas of the home. Every single character, except the baby, was hard to like on some level, as each of them were dishonest, manipulative, and secretive.
